Carterton Events Centre’s special seismic features have been recognised by the Ingenium Excellence Award for Public Infrastructure ($2m to $10m category). We feel very proud to have been able to contribute to the Carterton community and provide them with a great facility, which is also safer during earthquakes.

A new multi-purpose community Events Centre in the heart of Carterton, which includes a 300 seat multi-use auditorium and town hall, exhibition spaces and Information Centre, an existing refurbished Youth Centre is encapsulated along with new Community Meeting rooms, archive storage and many other facilities.

It’s all woven in and around the refurbished existing fabric of Carterton's grade two listed heritage Library which was built in 1881 by Charles Rooking Carter as a gift to his town.

The innovative design encompasses LVL bracing walls, used for the first time in the North Island, as well as passive sustainable solutions (such as rainwater recycling and passive solar systems) with allowance for future upgrades to active systems.
