A multi-purpose community events centre in the heart of Carterton
The events centre includes a 300 seat auditorium and town hall, exhibition spaces and an information centre.
The design encapsulated an existing youth centre along with new community meeting rooms, archive storage and many other facilities.
These were woven in and around the existing fabric of Carterton's Grade II listed heritage library, which was built in 1881 by Charles Rooking Carter as a gift to his town.
The innovative design used LVL bracing walls and passive sustainable solutions (such as rainwater recycling and passive solar systems) and allows for future upgrades to active systems.
